"Throughout my athletic career I experienced many injuries, some severe and some very subtle. Like everyone else, I would consult my primary doctor for advice and each encounter resulted in either a drug or surgical solution. I never was a fan of drugs and definitely not surgery. So, I sought out the help of more natural specialists. Initially seeking the care of Physical Therapists, Massage Therapists and Naturopaths. I found improvement, but still something was left to be desired. In a time of desperation, when I had injured my back weight training, I sought the assistance of a Chiropractor. At the time I was a personal trainer and was unable to workout for 3 months straight without suffering in terrible pain. After exhausting the traditional methods of pain killers, muscle relaxers, physical therapy and sports massage, I figured why not try out a Chiropractor. I was freaked out by the wrenching of the neck and the cracking sound, but I was desperate. A Chiropractor worked below the gym where I worked as a personal trainer. He evaluated my spine and determined that I had a Thoracic vertebrae out of alignment or subluxated, as the Chiropractors say. He had me lay down on the exam table, adjusted the vertebrae and had me sit back up and immediately I felt relief. He told me that it wouldn't last forever and to return in a couple days. I did as he advised and got adjusted a few times a week and the pain was a distant memory. I was so shocked that I continued getting adjusted to maintain the health of my body and spine. To my surprise, the magical relief of my pain was only the tip of the iceberg. After a few months of getting adjusted, I noticed some unusually amazing things. I had suffered from severe nasal allergies, indigestion, and anxiety since childhood. I couldn't even drink regular milk. But now, all of those ailments had resolved. My parents actually pointed it out to me. I remember having a milkshake and not getting a stomach ache or sinus trouble. My Chiropractor explained to me that once my nervous system began to balance out and decrease in stress, most of my complications, whether pain or functional, would resolve. To my amazement, he was right. So, my plan to go to Medical School was altered and I was elated to enroll in Chiropractic School instead. Despite the scrutiny Chiropractors receive from the general public, I knew it came from the voices of the inexperienced and ill informed. I knew I had a mission to rid as many people of drugs and surgery and help them understand how Chiropractic can help them, naturally."
